Putin hosts Russia-Africa summit in Moscow
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Burundi’s President Évariste Ndayishimiye, chairperson of the African Union, are co-chairing the third Russia-Africa Summit at the Grand Kremlin Palace in Moscow, bringing together representatives of nearly 50 African countries.
Held under the motto “For Peace, Security and Development,” the summit is bringing together heads of state and government, as well as leaders of African regional integration organizations, to discuss cooperation between Russia and African countries.
The summit is expected to adopt a final declaration and a Russia-Africa Partnership Forum Action Plan for 2027–2029. Participants are also expected to approve a declaration on cooperation in the civilian application of artificial intelligence technologies.
A series of intergovernmental and interdepartmental agreements is also expected to be signed, covering a broad range of areas of cooperation between Russia and African countries.
The gathering underscores Moscow’s efforts to strengthen its political, economic, technological and humanitarian ties with African nations, as Russia and countries across the continent seek to expand their cooperation on shared development priorities. (ILKHA)
