Russian attacks kill at least 10, injure 80 across Ukraine
Russian forces launched a large-scale overnight assault on Ukraine, firing ballistic missiles and hundreds of drones that killed at least 10 civilians and wounded at least 80 others over the past day, regional authorities reported.
Russia targeted the capital with ballistic missiles in a fresh overnight barrage, injuring at least 11 people—including an 11-year-old boy—and causing damage across four districts of Kyiv, local officials said. The strike formed part of a broader offensive that included 12 missiles (six of them ballistic) and 121 attack and decoy drones, according to Ukraine’s Air Force.
Ukrainian air defenses intercepted two guided missiles and 111 drones, but ballistic missiles, two guided missiles, and seven drones struck 11 locations. Debris from downed projectiles fell at three additional sites.
The heaviest civilian toll was reported in Donetsk Oblast, where seven people were killed—including five in Bilenke and two in Kramatorsk—and 21 others were wounded. Russian forces shelled settlements across the region 44 times, according to Governor Vadym Filashkin.
In Kharkiv Oblast, two civilians died and three were injured in attacks on eight settlements, Governor Oleh Syniehubov reported.
Zaporizhzhia Oblast saw one person killed and 30 injured in strikes on the regional capital. Russian forces carried out a staggering 1,011 strikes against 51 settlements in the region over the past day, Governor Ivan Fedorov said.
Further south, in Kherson Oblast, three people were wounded as Russian attacks damaged critical infrastructure, residential areas, 13 houses, a mobile communications tower, and a passenger bus, according to Governor Oleksandr Prokudin.
In Sumy Oblast, six people were injured amid nearly 60 attacks on 26 settlements. Dnipropetrovsk Oblast reported five injured from more than 30 strikes using drones, artillery, and guided aerial bombs across four districts.
In Chernihiv Oblast, a 51-year-old man was wounded in an FPV drone attack on Semenivka. Russian forces also struck a farm in the Snovsk community with a Shahed-type drone, sparking a fire that was later extinguished, Governor Viacheslav Chaus said.
The latest wave of attacks underscores the continued pressure on Ukrainian cities and frontline regions as the conflict enters its fourth year. Ukrainian officials have repeatedly called for strengthened air defenses to protect civilian populations from such barrages. (ILKHA)
