SOHR: Israel regime carries out eight raids in southern Syria
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said the Israel regime carried out eight separate military raids across southern Syria on Sunday, temporarily detaining three shepherds, searching civilian homes and damaging private property in what it described as a continued escalation of operations in the region.
According to the UK-based monitoring group, the incursions took place in several areas of the Quneitra and Daraa provinces, where occupation forces deployed military vehicles, conducted house searches and carried out armed patrols.
SOHR said occupation forces temporarily detained three shepherds near a farm in the Quneitra countryside before releasing them several hours later.
Civilians targeted during raids
In another incident, an occupation patrol consisting of four military vehicles entered the town of Al-Hamidiyah in the Quneitra countryside. Troops reportedly used loudspeakers to order residents to remain inside their homes before searching several civilian houses.
The monitoring group also reported that occupation forces withdrew from the Al-Hanut farm in rural Quneitra on Sunday evening after remaining deployed there for several hours.
No casualties were reported during the raids, but SOHR said the operations caused damage to private property and further heightened tensions among local residents.
Ground incursions continue
The latest operations come amid an ongoing increase in the Israel regime's military activities in southern Syria.
In a report issued on October 8, SOHR said occupation forces had carried out at least 453 ground incursions into Syrian territory between December 8, 2024, and October 6, 2026, with most of the operations concentrated in the provinces of Quneitra and Daraa.
The monitoring group said the repeated incursions have included temporary detentions of civilians, military patrols, land-clearing operations, the establishment of temporary positions and raids on villages near the occupied Golan Heights, reflecting a sustained expansion of military activity in southern Syria.
Syrian authorities have repeatedly condemned the operations, accusing the Israel regime of violating the 1974 Disengagement Agreement through military incursions, detentions, land-clearing activities and bombardments, and warning that the continued actions undermine Syria's sovereignty and threaten regional stability.(ILKHA)
