A U.S. federal judge has scheduled the trial of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, for June 1, 2027, following charges brought after their transfer to the United States.

A U.S. federal court has set June 1, 2027 as the trial date for Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.

The date was announced during a pretrial hearing before U.S. District Judge Alvin Hellerstein in New York. Maduro and Flores are expected to stand trial on the scheduled date.

Maduro's attorney, Barry Pollack, said he would challenge the indictment, arguing that his client is entitled to head-of-state immunity as the leader of a sovereign nation and therefore cannot be prosecuted in a U.S. court.

Maduro and Flores were transferred to the United States following a U.S. military operation in Venezuela on January 3. Venezuelan authorities said at the time that U.S. forces had carried out attacks on civilian and military sites across the country before taking the couple out of Venezuela.

Donald Trump announced that Maduro and his wife had been removed from the country during what he described as a large-scale operation. Former U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi later said Maduro faces charges including narco-terrorism, cocaine trafficking, and possession of machine guns and destructive devices in connection with crimes against the United States.
