Turkish president to pay official visit to Turkmenistan on Dec. 11-12
Türkiye's President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will embark on an official visit to Turkmenistan on December 11-12, where he will participate in a major international forum and hold high-level diplomatic meetings, the Presidential Communications Directorate announced.
The centerpiece of the visit will be Erdoğan's participation in the International Peace and Trust Forum in Ashgabat. The forum commemorates two key milestones: the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's United Nations-recognized status of permanent neutrality and the UN General Assembly's declaration of 2025 as the "International Year of Peace and Trust."
"President Erdoğan will deliver a speech at this important international platform," stated Presidential Communications Director Prof. Dr. Burhanettin Duran in a social media post outlining the visit's agenda.
Beyond the forum, the visit is set to advance bilateral relations. President Erdoğan is scheduled to hold meetings with Turkmenistan's leadership to discuss matters of mutual interest and bilateral cooperation. The trip also provides a venue for multilateral diplomacy, as Duran noted the President will conduct meetings with other heads of state and government attending the forum.
The visit underscores Türkiye's ongoing engagement with Turkic states and its active role in international dialogues on stability and cooperation. It follows a period of sustained diplomatic contact between Ankara and Ashgabat, focusing on energy, trade, and regional connectivity projects.
No further specifics regarding the topics for the bilateral talks or the content of the President's forum speech were immediately provided by the directorate. (ILKHA)
