Türkiye condemns Israeli parliament’s move toward annexation of West Bank

The Turkish Foreign Ministry has strongly condemned a recent resolution passed in the Israeli parliament advocating for the annexation of the occupied West Bank, labeling the move as a blatant violation of international law and a direct threat to regional peace and stability.
In a written statement released Wednesday, the Ministry described the Israeli resolution as "null and void" under international law, asserting that the West Bank is recognized globally as Palestinian territory illegally occupied by Israel since 1967.
“Any attempt by Israel to annex the West Bank is illegitimate,” the statement declared, adding that such provocations undermine all efforts toward a just and lasting peace in the region.
The Ministry sharply criticized the Netanyahu government, accusing it of escalating regional tensions and fueling instability in a bid to maintain power through "violent policies and unlawful actions." It warned that Israel’s aggressive stance threatens both the regional security architecture and the broader international order.
Calling for urgent global action, Türkiye urged the international community to fulfill its legal and moral responsibilities by taking “binding and deterrent measures” against what it described as the “genocidal aggression” of Israel.
Ankara reiterated its unwavering support for Palestinian rights and international initiatives aimed at ending the occupation and establishing a sovereign, independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
This latest diplomatic rebuke comes amid escalating tensions in the occupied Palestinian territories, where Israel’s policies continue to draw condemnation from across the Muslim world and beyond. (ILKHA)
