Türkiye's Directorate of Communications organized a panel in Croatia's capital, Zagreb, on Thursday to discuss NATO's future security agenda, burden-sharing and emerging global challenges ahead of the NATO Heads of State and Government Summit to be held in Ankara on July 7–8.

The event, titled "Burden Sharing and Alliance Cohesion: What to Expect from the Ankara NATO Summit?", was held in cooperation with the Institute for Development and International Relations (IRMO) as the final program in a series of NATO-focused events organized by the Directorate of Communications across the capitals of allied countries.

The opening remarks were delivered by Türkiye's Ambassador to Croatia, Nurdan Erpulat Altuntaş, while Türkiye's Communications Director Prof. Dr. Burhanettin Duran addressed participants via video message.

Bringing together diplomats, military representatives, academics and members of the media, the panel examined the alliance's evolving security priorities amid a rapidly changing international environment.

Speakers highlighted the importance of fair burden-sharing among allies, strengthening NATO's unity and adapting the alliance to emerging security challenges. Discussions also focused on the impact of the Russia–Ukraine war on Euro-Atlantic security, regional developments and expectations for decisions to be taken at the upcoming Ankara summit.

Following the panel, Turkish officials met with journalists at the Turkish Embassy in Zagreb, answering questions on Türkiye's role within NATO, the alliance's current agenda and expectations for the 36th NATO Heads of State and Government Summit in Ankara.

The Zagreb event concluded a diplomatic outreach initiative launched by Türkiye's Directorate of Communications in several NATO capitals to foster dialogue and exchange views ahead of the alliance's summit in Ankara.(ILKHA)
