Two U.S. soldiers killed, one seriously injured in accident near U.S.-Mexico border

Two U.S. service members were killed and another was seriously injured on Tuesday in what military officials described as a vehicle accident near the U.S.-Mexico border, according to a statement released by United States Northern Command (NORTHCOM).
The incident occurred at approximately 8:50 a.m. local time near Santa Teresa, New Mexico, roughly 13 miles northwest of El Paso, Texas, an area that has seen an increased military presence in recent years due to border enforcement operations.
According to NORTHCOM, the three soldiers were deployed in support of Joint Task Force–Southern Border, a military initiative aimed at assisting border security efforts. The mission has seen thousands of troops stationed along the southern border, a deployment that began under the Trump administration as part of a broader crackdown on immigration.
One of the service members remains in serious condition at a local hospital. The identities of the deceased have not been released pending next-of-kin notification.
"The cause of the accident is under investigation," NORTHCOM stated, offering no additional details on the nature of the incident or the type of vehicle involved.
No further information has been provided regarding the circumstances leading up to the crash. Military and civilian authorities are expected to coordinate in the ongoing investigation. (ILKHA)
