Adam Bouloukos, the director of the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) in the occupied West Bank, has expressed deep concern over the rapidly deteriorating humanitarian and security situation in the region.
Bouloukos highlighted that the ongoing Israeli military aggression, particularly the intense assault on the Jenin refugee camp, has forced a mass displacement of Palestinian families. This has severely disrupted daily life, impacting access to essential services such as education and healthcare.
The UNRWA director noted that the suspension of educational activities in UNRWA schools within the area was unavoidable due to the ongoing Israeli aggression. Similarly, the provision of healthcare services in refugee camps in northern West Bank has been severely hampered by the challenging security environment.
Bouloukos issued a strong call to the international community to urgently intervene. He urged the international community to provide immediate humanitarian assistance to those affected and to exert pressure on all parties involved to de-escalate the situation and ensure the protection of Palestinian civilians.
The Israeli occupation forces have been conducting a large-scale military operation in Jenin and its refugee camp for the past six days. This operation has resulted in the tragic deaths of 15 Palestinian civilians, with numerous injuries and arrests reported. The extensive Israeli military actions have also caused significant damage to civilian infrastructure, including homes, businesses, and essential services like water and electricity. (ILKHA)
