Yemen’s military announced on Tuesday that it had targeted three American supply ships and two destroyers accompanying them in the Gulf of Aden.
The strikes were confirmed by military spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Saree, who stated that the operation was carried out as a show of support for Palestine and in retaliation against alleged American-British aggression on Yemen.
“In support of the Palestinian people and their resistance, and in response to American-British aggression, the naval, UAV, and missile forces of the Yemeni Armed Forces carried out a specific military operation targeting three American supply ships after they departed the port of Djibouti,” Saree said in a statement.
The operation also targeted two accompanying American destroyers, using a combination of missiles and drones. According to Saree, the strikes were successful in achieving their objectives.
This is the second such targeting of American vessels by Yemeni forces in the past ten days, Saree noted.
In a related development, Yemen’s Air Force carried out two drone strikes targeting military positions in Yaffa and Ashkelon, located in the occupied Palestinian territories. The strikes, conducted Tuesday morning, reportedly achieved their intended goals.
Brigadier General Saree emphasized Yemen's continued support for the Palestinian resistance and pledged ongoing defensive operations against aggression targeting Yemen. He reiterated demands for an end to the blockade of Gaza and cessation of hostilities in Yemen.
“The Yemeni Armed Forces will persist in their operations until the aggression stops and the siege on the Gaza Strip is lifted,” Saree declared.
The developments come amid heightened regional tensions and international focus on conflicts in both Yemen and Gaza. The claims have yet to be independently verified, and no immediate response was issued by American or international authorities regarding the alleged attacks. (ILKHA)
