Türkiye, Lebanon discuss expanding cooperation in energy sector
Türkiye and Lebanon have agreed to deepen cooperation in the energy sector following talks between Türkiye's Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar and Lebanese Minister of Energy and Water Joseph Saddi in Ankara.
According to Bayraktar, the meeting focused on strengthening regional electricity, natural gas and oil interconnections, as well as exploring new cooperation opportunities in the petroleum and natural gas sectors.
The Turkish minister said Türkiye is ready to share its experience, technical expertise and capabilities with Lebanon to support the country's energy sector.
Cooperation to focus on key energy projects
Bayraktar said the two sides aim to strengthen bilateral energy ties through projects based on mutual benefit.
The discussions also covered potential cooperation on electricity supply, natural gas infrastructure, renewable energy and offshore energy development, while both sides agreed to maintain technical coordination on projects that could be implemented in the future.
Lebanese officials have described regional energy cooperation as a strategic priority for improving the country's electricity sector and securing more reliable energy supplies at lower cost.
The meeting reflects ongoing efforts by Türkiye and Lebanon to expand bilateral cooperation in the energy sector amid broader regional initiatives aimed at improving energy connectivity and infrastructure.(ILKHA)
