Türkiye’s construction output rises 2.1% year-on-year in April, TurkStat reports
Construction production in Türkiye increased by 2.1% annually in April 2026, according to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) on Wednesday.
The report showed mixed performance across subsectors within the construction industry, based on the 2021=100 index classification. While overall output rose on an annual basis, sectoral trends varied significantly.
On a yearly comparison, the construction of buildings index remained unchanged, indicating stagnation in residential and commercial building activity. In contrast, civil engineering works recorded a strong increase of 12.3%, while specialised construction activities rose by 2.7% compared with the same month of the previous year.
On a monthly basis, construction production also showed a moderate increase of 0.7% in April 2026 compared with March.
Subsector performance on a monthly scale was more mixed. The construction of buildings index increased by 0.9%, and civil engineering activities rose by 1.4%. However, specialised construction activities declined by 0.5%, partially offsetting gains in other areas.
The data points to a steady but uneven recovery in Türkiye’s construction sector, with infrastructure-related civil engineering projects driving much of the annual growth, while building activity remains relatively flat. (ILKHA)
