Türkiye sees 2.4% annual rise in paid employees

The number of paid employees in Türkiye across the industry, construction, and trade-services sectors grew by 2.4% in April 2025 compared to the same month last year, according to a statement released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) on Monday.
The total number of paid employees rose from 15.29 million in April 2024 to 15.66 million in April 2025.
Breaking down the data by sector, the construction sector saw the largest annual increase, with a 7.3% rise in paid employees. The trade-services sector followed with a 3.6% increase, while the industrial sector experienced a 1.3% decline in paid employment.
On a monthly basis, the overall number of paid employees increased by 0.7% from March to April 2025. The construction sector again led with a 2.4% month-on-month rise, followed by a 0.6% increase in the trade-services sector and a 0.4% uptick in the industrial sector.
The data highlights Türkiye’s ongoing employment growth, particularly in construction and trade-services, despite a slight downturn in the industrial sector. (ILKHA)
