Afghanistan and Uzbekistan have held high-level talks aimed at strengthening bilateral transport cooperation, with both sides focusing on improving cross-border transit and facilitating the movement of commercial goods between the neighboring countries.

Afghanistan's Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Mullah Mohammad Fazel Mazloom, met with Uzbekistan's Minister of Transport, Ilkhom Makhkamov, to discuss measures to enhance regional connectivity and streamline transport operations.

According to Afghan officials, the meeting centered on simplifying transit procedures and easing visa requirements for truck drivers to improve the efficiency of cross-border logistics and trade.

The two ministers also explored ways to reduce administrative obstacles that affect the movement of cargo, emphasizing the importance of stronger transport links in promoting regional commerce.

During the talks, Makhkamov reaffirmed Uzbekistan's commitment to expanding cooperation with Afghanistan, pledging to introduce additional facilitative measures to remove bureaucratic barriers and accelerate the transit of Afghan goods through Uzbekistan.

The discussions reflect ongoing efforts by both countries to strengthen economic ties and improve regional transport infrastructure, with enhanced transit connectivity expected to support trade and economic development across Central and South Asia. (ILKHA)
