Nearly 19 million students across Türkiye receive report cards as school year ends
Nearly 19 million students across Türkiye received their report cards on Friday, marking the end of the 2025–2026 academic year and the start of the summer holiday. The next school year is scheduled to begin on Sept. 14.
The academic year, which began on Sept. 8, 2025, concluded for students enrolled in preschool, primary, middle and secondary schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education (MEB).
During the school year, students had a mid-term break from Nov. 10 to 14 in the first semester and another from March 16 to 20 in the second semester. The second semester began on Feb. 2 and ended on Friday.
In the final week of the academic year, the ministry organized a nationwide "End-of-Term Culture, Arts and Sports Activities Week" to promote students' social, cultural and physical development through educational and recreational activities.
The ministry also announced that the June 2026 Professional Development Seminar for teachers will be held online on June 29 and 30, with the program remaining accessible until July 5.
Throughout the academic year, the ministry continued implementing the Türkiye Century Education Model and distributed approximately 184 million textbooks free of charge. The updated curriculum was gradually introduced across designated grades in preschool, primary, middle and secondary education.
New regulations on school uniforms also took effect during the academic year, while nationwide initiatives promoting environmental awareness, Ramadan activities and Children's Day celebrations were carried out in schools.
The ministry further expanded digital education services by introducing the "Out-of-School Learning" platform and the AI-powered foreign language platform DİLİM for students, along with the Teacher Information Service (ÖBS) and the School-Parent Assistant (OVA) applications via the BiP messaging platform for teachers and parents.
Meanwhile, the nationwide High School Entrance System (LGS) examination was held on June 13. According to the ministry's academic calendar, the 2026–2027 school year will begin on Sept. 14.(ILKHA)
