Erdoğan marks delivery of 455,000th post-disaster home in Hatay
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced the delivery of the 455,000th post-disaster housing unit during a ceremony held in Hatay, marking a major milestone in Türkiye’s reconstruction efforts following the devastating earthquakes of February 6.
Speaking at the Ceremony for the Drawing and Key Delivery of the 455 Thousandth Post-Disaster House and the Opening of Newly Completed Investments, President Erdoğan said the scale and speed of the recovery effort represented an achievement rarely matched worldwide.
“Today in Hatay, we are witnessing a great success which can be achieved by almost no other country in the world,” Erdoğan said. “We are having the pride of delivering the 455 thousandth post-disaster house to our eligible brothers and sisters in our 11 provinces hit by the earthquake.”
The president emphasized that the state has stood by earthquake survivors from the very first day of the disaster and would continue to do so in the future. “As was the case on February 6, we are with you today as well,” he said. “Since true brotherhood manifests itself in difficult times, we have not abandoned disaster victims to desperation. As long as we live on, we will never leave you alone in the future as well.”
The ceremony in Hatay also included the inauguration of newly completed public investments, highlighting the broader reconstruction and development process underway in the earthquake-affected region. Officials noted that housing projects, infrastructure works, and social facilities are being completed simultaneously to restore normal life and strengthen urban resilience.
The February 6 earthquakes affected 11 provinces across southern Türkiye, causing widespread destruction and displacing millions. Since then, the government has launched one of the largest housing reconstruction programs in the country’s history, aiming to provide permanent, earthquake-resistant homes while revitalizing regional economies.
Authorities stated that housing deliveries will continue in the coming months, with the goal of completing all planned post-disaster residences and fully rebuilding affected cities as quickly as possible. (ILKHA)
