ITTIHADUL ULEMA issues condolence message for martyred Qassam leaders
The Union of Scholars and Madrasas (ITTIHADUL ULEMA) has released a condolence message honoring Abu Ubaida, spokesperson of the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, and several commanders who were killed in attacks carried out by Israeli occupation forces.
In its written statement, ITTIHADUL ULEMA stressed that the struggle in Palestine is not merely a dispute over land, but a broader cause centered on protecting the dignity of the Islamic Ummah and safeguarding Al-Aqsa Mosque, Islam’s first qibla. The union underscored the religious and moral dimensions of the Palestinian cause, framing it as a matter of faith, honor, and collective responsibility.
Citing verse 154 of Surah Al-Baqarah, the statement emphasized the Islamic belief that those who are killed in the path of Allah are not dead, but alive in the presence of their Lord. “Do not say of those who are killed in the way of Allah, ‘They are dead.’ Rather, they are alive,” the verse reads.
According to ITTIHADUL ULEMA, the fallen members of the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades carried upon their shoulders the dignity of the Ummah, the trust of Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the cause of Jerusalem’s freedom. The union stated that these figures attained the rank of martyrdom and returned to their Lord, describing them as believers of this era who rejected humiliation and chose honor and sacrifice.
The statement reiterated that the Palestinian struggle transcends territorial boundaries, presenting it as a defense of Islamic sanctities and the collective dignity of Muslims worldwide. It also highlighted steadfastness, faith, and resistance as defining features of those who have lost their lives in the conflict.
Concluding its message, ITTIHADUL ULEMA prayed for the martyrs to be received in Al-Firdaws (Paradise) and asked for patience, perseverance, and divine support for their families and for those who continue the struggle. The union affirmed its solidarity through words, prayers, and presence, expressing continued support for what it described as a blessed march in defense of truth, justice, and Al-Aqsa Mosque. (ILKHA)
