Turkish FM Hakan Fidan to attend NATO foreign ministers' meeting in Brussels

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is set to join his counterparts at a NATO foreign ministers’ meeting in Brussels on April 3-4, diplomatic sources confirmed.
The gathering, a critical precursor to the NATO summit scheduled for June in The Hague, aims to align member states on pressing security challenges and policy priorities.
The meeting marks the first collective consultation between NATO’s 32 allies and the new U.S. administration, spotlighting a broad agenda that includes collective defense, the ongoing war in Ukraine, and NATO’s growing ties with Asia-Pacific partners. According to sources, discussions will unfold over four sessions, addressing both immediate and long-term strategic concerns.
The opening session, exclusive to NATO member states, will tackle burden-sharing, defense spending, and bolstering Europe’s security framework. Ministers will also focus on reinforcing the alliance’s defense industry infrastructure and laying the groundwork for the upcoming summit. A key topic will be the Russia-Ukraine conflict, with an emphasis on its enduring implications for European stability.
Fidan’s participation highlights Türkiye’s active role in shaping the alliance’s response to these challenges as the June summit approaches. (ILKHA)
