Orphans Foundation brings Eid joy to Gazan children amid devastation

Amid ongoing violence and devastation, the Orphans Foundation (Yetimler Vakfı) has launched a heartfelt initiative to bring joy to the war-stricken children of Gaza during Eid al-Fitr.
The foundation distributed Eid gifts, sweets, and clothing while organizing a special entertainment program, offering a rare moment of happiness for children living through immense suffering.
Since the onset of Operation Aqsa Flood on October 7, 2023, more than 50,000 Palestinians—mostly women and children—have lost their lives due to Israeli attacks. Among them, over 15,000 children have been killed, 34,000 have been injured, and thousands remain missing. Survivors continue to endure severe trauma, hunger, and fear in the face of relentless aggression.
For many children in Gaza, this marks their third consecutive Eid spent under bombardment. Many have lost parents or have been orphaned entirely. In response, the Orphans Foundation provided them with pocket money, sweets, and chocolates, hoping to bring a glimpse of normalcy amid the devastation.
The children were able to smile again as they took part in games and entertainment activities organized by volunteers. Despite the grief and challenges they face daily, the event provided much-needed relief, even if only for a short while.
A representative of the Orphans Foundation in Gaza highlighted the dire conditions children have faced, emphasizing that many have been unable to wear Eid clothes for the past two years due to relentless bombardment and the ongoing blockade.
“Today, with the generous support of the Orphans Foundation, we are preparing Eid clothes to distribute to bereaved children in southern Gaza. May Allah bless and multiply the rewards of all those who contributed,” the representative stated.
Expressing gratitude for the foundation’s efforts, the representative added: “Together with the Orphans Foundation, we have come to distribute sweets to the wounded and grieving children of Gaza. We want to bring them some joy despite the sorrow surrounding them.”
On the second day of Eid, the Orphans Foundation continued its charitable efforts by organizing another special program. Volunteers distributed sweets and spent time with the children, reminding them that they are not forgotten.
“In the midst of the brutal war, we are here to remind Gaza’s children that they are loved and cared for. With the support of kind-hearted donors, we are bringing smiles to wounded and bereaved children. May Allah reward all those who contributed,” the representative concluded.
Despite the tragedy surrounding them, the children of Gaza experienced a brief moment of happiness—proof of their resilience and the unwavering dedication of humanitarian organizations committed to easing their pain. (ILKHA)
