Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu announced that Türkiye has successfully evacuated a total of 1,834 people from Sudan, including 249 citizens of 19 different countries, amid ongoing conflict in the country.
Turkish diplomatic sources also revealed that Cavusoglu spoke with Mohammed Hamdan Dagalu, the commander of Sudan's paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), to coordinate the evacuation of Turkish citizens.
However, a Turkish C-130 evacuation plane came under small arms fire while en route to Wadi Seidna Air Base for the evacuation.
Despite the conflict, Turkey is continuing its efforts to mediate and end the conflict in Sudan, with Deputy Minister Burak Akcapar planning to visit Sudan for mediation next week.
