Türkiye marks Africa Day, reaffirms strategic partnership with African nations
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye has issued a statement commemorating Africa Day on 25 May, reaffirming Türkiye’s commitment to strengthening cooperation and solidarity with African nations on the basis of equality, mutual respect, and shared prosperity.
In its press release, the ministry congratulated African countries on the occasion of the 63rd anniversary of the establishment of the African Union, describing the day as a symbol of the African continent’s spirit of peace, freedom, unity, and solidarity.
The statement emphasized that Türkiye, as a strategic partner of the African Union, remains dedicated to supporting African peoples in their efforts toward development, justice, and peace. Ankara underlined that its engagement with Africa is based on the principles of equal partnership, mutual trust, respect, and win-win cooperation.
The Foreign Ministry also announced that preparations are continuing for the Fourth Türkiye-Africa Partnership Summit, which is scheduled to take place in 2026. Officials stated that the summit is expected to provide a significant opportunity to deepen political, economic, cultural, and diplomatic cooperation between Türkiye and African countries.
Türkiye further stressed that it aims to continue working closely with African partners to contribute to regional and international prosperity, stability, and peace.
Over the past two decades, Türkiye has significantly expanded its diplomatic, trade, humanitarian, and development presence across Africa, strengthening relations with dozens of countries through investment projects, humanitarian assistance, infrastructure initiatives, and high-level diplomatic engagement.
