Consumer confidence in Türkiye improved in July, rising 2.2% from the previous month, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) announced in a statement on Thursday.
The consumer confidence index, jointly compiled by TurkStat and the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye through the monthly consumer tendency survey, increased to 89.8 in July from 87.9 in June.
The latest reading indicates an improvement in household sentiment regarding the economy and personal financial expectations, although the index remains below the 100-point threshold that generally signals consumer optimism.
The consumer confidence index is based on survey responses measuring households' assessments of their current financial situation, expectations for the general economic outlook, unemployment prospects, and their willingness to spend on durable consumer goods.
The July increase follows a reading of 87.9 in June, reflecting a modest strengthening in consumer sentiment amid ongoing economic developments.
The Turkish Statistical Institute and the Central Bank publish the consumer confidence index monthly to gauge households' perceptions and expectations regarding economic conditions in the country. (ILKHA)
