Türkiye's Council of Higher Education receives 3,373 proposals ahead of COP31
Türkiye's Council of Higher Education has received 3,373 proposals from universities ahead of the 31st United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP31), which Türkiye is set to host in Antalya, Council President Erol Özvar announced.
Özvar said the call, launched to bring the scientific expertise of higher education institutions into climate action, had received a strong response from the academic community.
According to the figures shared by the Council of Higher Education, 2,767 participants from national and international institutions submitted 3,373 proposals aimed at contributing to the COP31 process.
Universities contribute to climate action
The proposals cover a wide range of fields, including scientific research, technology and innovation, international academic cooperation, university-industry partnerships, conferences, workshops and public awareness initiatives related to climate action and sustainability.
Özvar thanked universities, researchers and academics for contributing to Türkiye's efforts to combat climate change and support the country's green transformation.
COP31, to be hosted by Türkiye in Antalya, is expected to bring together government representatives, international organizations, scientists and civil society leaders to discuss global climate policies, emissions reduction, climate finance and adaptation strategies.(ILKHA)
