Türkiye's population rises to 86.32 million as of July 1
Türkiye's population reached 86,320,602 as of July 1, 2026, an increase of 228,434 people since the end of 2025, according to quarterly population statistics released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat).
The data showed that the country's population grew from 86,092,168 at the end of 2025 to 86,320,602 during the first six months of 2026. Between May 1 and July 1 alone, the population increased by 123,904.
Gender distribution remains nearly balanced
According to TurkStat, the male population stood at 43,170,975, accounting for 50.01% of the total population, while the female population reached 43,149,627, representing 49.99%.
The figures indicate that the gender distribution in Türkiye remains almost evenly balanced.
Children aged 10–14 form the largest age group
Among all age groups, those aged 10 to 14 represented the largest segment of the population, totaling 6,562,310 people.
The 90-and-over age group was the smallest, with 257,204 people.
TurkStat publishes quarterly population estimates to monitor demographic changes throughout the year, providing updated data for policymakers, researchers and public institutions.(ILKHA)
