Uzbek President Mirziyoyev to visit Türkiye for high-level strategic talks
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan is set to pay an official visit to Türkiye on 29 January 2026 at the invitation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, according to a statement by Burhanettin Duran, Head of Communications of the Turkish Presidency.
During the visit, Ankara will host the Fourth Meeting of the Türkiye–Uzbekistan High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council, co-chaired by the two presidents. The meeting is expected to focus on deepening bilateral ties across a wide range of fields, including trade, investment, energy, transportation, defense cooperation, education, and cultural exchange.
Officials said both sides will review ongoing cooperation mechanisms and discuss concrete steps to further strengthen the strategic partnership. Several bilateral agreements and memoranda of understanding are also expected to be signed, expanding the legal and institutional framework governing relations between the two countries.
In addition to bilateral issues, President Erdoğan and President Mirziyoyev are expected to exchange views on regional and international developments, including developments in Central Asia, the Middle East, and broader global affairs, reflecting the growing coordination between Ankara and Tashkent on regional stability and multilateral cooperation.
As part of the visit, a ceremony marking the opening of housing units built in Hatay with Uzbekistan’s support following the devastating February 2023 earthquakes will be held via live video link. The housing project has been widely seen as a symbol of solidarity between the two nations and underscores Uzbekistan’s contribution to Türkiye’s post-disaster reconstruction efforts.
Türkiye and Uzbekistan have significantly expanded political, economic, and cultural ties in recent years, with both governments emphasizing a shared vision of strengthening cooperation between Turkic states. The upcoming visit is expected to further reinforce this momentum and elevate the strategic partnership between the two countries. (ILKHA)
