Winning the votes of 619 party delegates at the ordinary congress, Zekeriya Yapıcıoğlu takes the party helm.
Turkey’s HÜDA PAR (Free Cause Party) has held its “4th Ordinary Grand Congress” in the capital Ankara at the Atatürk Sport and Exhibition Hall.
Zekeriya Yapıcıoğlu was elected as the new chairman of the party with the votes of 619 party delegates.
In his speech after the vote, Yapıcıoğlu thanked ex-chairman İshak Sağlam for his precious contribution to the party during his tenure.
Who is Zekeriya Yapıcıoğlu?
Zekeriya Yapıcıoğlu was born in 1966 in Batman. Yapıcıoğlu worked as a lawyer from 1990 to 2012 after finishing his education as a lawyer in Ankara.
He co-founded the Free Cause Party in 2013 in an attempt to consolidate the conservative Kurdish vote. He led the Party from June 2013 to May 2018.
He stated that the cause of HÜDA-PAR was the continuation of that of Sheikh Said.
Yapıcıoğlu ran unsuccessfully as an independent twice in 2015 and in 2018 in the district of Diyarbakır and received 3.4% and 4.3% of the vote share respectively. (ILKHA)
