14 killed after Saudi Aramco helicopter crashes in Ras Tanura
A helicopter operated by Saudi Aramco crashed in the eastern coastal city of Ras Tanura early Sunday, killing all 14 people aboard, Saudi state media reported.
The Saudi Press Agency (SPA), citing an official source at the Ministry of Energy, said the helicopter went down at around 6:00 am local time (03:00 GMT). All victims were Saudi nationals.
Authorities have launched a full investigation to determine the cause of the crash. Officials expressed condolences to the families of those killed and said support would be provided to the bereaved.
The incident occurred in Ras Tanura, a key hub for Saudi Arabia’s oil industry. Just two days earlier, on Friday, Saudi Aramco resumed crude oil loading operations at its Ras Tanura terminal in the Gulf after a nearly four-month suspension linked to the US-Israeli war on Iran.
No further details about the helicopter’s mission or the identities of those on board have been released so far.
The company and relevant authorities are expected to provide updates as the investigation progresses. (ILKHA)
