At least five people were killed and five others injured after an Amazon cargo plane crashed at Miami International Airport in the US state of Florida on Sunday, striking several vehicles before bursting into flames.

The aircraft veered off the runway at around 2 p.m. local time, causing a major emergency at one of the busiest airports in the United States. The crash prompted the temporary closure of the airport as emergency crews rushed to the scene.

Officials said five people were killed in the incident, while another five were taken to hospital with injuries. Several victims, including the aircraft’s pilot and co-pilot, were trapped following the crash and had to be rescued by emergency responders.

The collision also resulted in a significant fuel leak, requiring firefighters to work to contain the spilled fuel and prevent the flames from spreading.

Emergency crews remained at the airport as authorities secured the crash site and began investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
