Afghan, Russian officials discuss cooperation in cancer and heart disease treatment
Afghanistan and Russia have discussed expanding bilateral cooperation in healthcare, with a focus on cancer and heart disease diagnosis and treatment, as well as professional training for Afghan healthcare workers.
Afghanistan’s Public Health Minister Mawlavi Noor Jalal Jalali met with a Russian delegation to explore opportunities for cooperation in specialised medical services and strengthening the country’s healthcare workforce, the Ministry of Public Health said.
During the meeting, Jalali emphasised the importance of professional training and the exchange of specialised knowledge, experience and skills between the two countries to improve healthcare services in Afghanistan.
The Russian delegation expressed its readiness to cooperate in diagnosing and treating cancer and heart disease and supporting capacity-building programmes for Afghan health workers.
The discussions reflect efforts to strengthen Afghanistan’s healthcare sector through international cooperation, particularly in specialised treatment and the development of medical expertise. (ILKHA)
