Afghanistan advances work on strategic national ring road
The Afghan Ministry of Public Works announced the completion of an additional section of the country’s strategic ring road, underscoring ongoing efforts to rebuild critical infrastructure damaged during years of conflict.
According to the ministry, an 11-kilometer segment of the vital national artery has been fully asphalted at a cost of 3.8 million US dollars. Officials stated that the project marks another step toward improving transportation networks and supporting economic recovery across the country.
Transport Ministry spokesman Mohammad Ashraf Haqshinas said in a statement shared on social media that the newly paved section connects Karukh district in western Herat province with the Laman area of neighboring Badghis province. He noted that the development will facilitate movement, ease travel time and costs, and strengthen regional trade.
The Afghanistan Ring Road, linking 16 provinces, is regarded as a strategic corridor essential for enhancing connectivity, expanding access to services, and stimulating local commerce. Authorities emphasize that progress on the road is central to the country’s long-term economic integration.
Officials say the project reflects the Afghan government’s continued commitment to restoring transportation networks and rebuilding critical infrastructure across the war-torn nation. (ILKHA)
