Afghanistan destroys more than 3,000 dunams of illicit drug crops in Badakhshan
Afghan authorities have destroyed more than 3,000 dunams of illicit drug cultivation fields in the northern province of Badakhshan as part of ongoing efforts to combat narcotics production.
Anti-narcotics police units carried out extensive operations across Badakhshan over the past two weeks, according to a statement from the provincial police office.
The statement said a total of 3,361 dunams of poppy, cannabis and other crops used in illegal drug production were destroyed during the operations.
Authorities warned that strict measures would be taken against anyone violating the law by cultivating poppy, cannabis or other plants used in the production of illegal narcotics.
Afghan authorities have intensified anti-drug operations across the country in recent years, targeting cultivation areas and facilities linked to illegal drug production.(ILKHA)
