A total of 431 Afghan families, comprising 2,199 individuals, returned to Afghanistan on Sunday, the country's High Commission for Refugees Affairs confirmed on Monday.

The Commission said the returning families were received at designated border entry points before being registered and enrolled in assistance programs designed to facilitate their reintegration into their home communities.

As part of the repatriation process, 232 families were transported to their respective home provinces, while 308 families received direct cash assistance to help meet their immediate needs. In addition, 398 returnees were provided with SIM cards to improve communication and access to essential services.

Authorities also reported that all returnees were provided with basic healthcare services, food assistance, and community orientation programs aimed at helping them adapt to life after returning to Afghanistan.

The repatriation comes amid the continued return of thousands of Afghan refugees from neighboring countries, placing growing pressure on humanitarian agencies and local authorities to provide shelter, livelihoods, and essential services for returnees.

The High Commission for Refugees Affairs said it remains committed to coordinating assistance efforts with relevant institutions to ensure that returning families receive the support necessary for a safe and sustainable reintegration into their communities. (ILKHA)
