Armenia, U.S. to launch joint company for Zangezur corridor project
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has announced that Armenia will create a joint Armenian–American company to implement the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP).
Speaking to reporters, Pashinyan said the new company’s board seats will be allocated according to investment share, but Armenia will maintain decisive authority on strategic issues. He stressed that Armenian state institutions will retain full legal jurisdiction throughout the TRIPP area.
The project will operate under a build-operate-transfer (BOT) model. Pashinyan said both 49-year and 99-year contract options are under consideration, describing the duration as an economic and technical matter aimed at ensuring a satisfactory return for investors.
Pashinyan added that the company will be structured as a broad professional partnership involving specialized investors, with ongoing discussions with the United States to determine potential participation by additional third-party actors.
The announcement comes after the August 8 trilateral summit at the White House, where U.S. President Donald Trump hosted Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. At the meeting, the parties agreed to move forward with the TRIPP project, which is intended to secure uninterrupted transport and energy connectivity between mainland Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
