Egypt’s FM Abdulati: “Egypt will not be part of a new Nakba”

Egyptian Foreign Minister Bekr Abdulati stressed that his country rejects any scenario aimed at displacing the Palestinian people, describing such actions as a crime of ethnic cleansing.
Speaking at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Abdulati said that Egypt is ready to build upon U.S. President Donald Trump’s vision for achieving stability, ending the war in Gaza, and securing the release of hostages.
Warning that the situation in the Middle East is on the verge of explosion, the Egyptian top diplomat underlined that “Israel cannot enjoy security as long as there is no security in the region.”
He reiterated Egypt’s firm stance against any attempt to forcibly displace Palestinians, stressing that Cairo has mobilized all its efforts since the beginning of the Gaza crisis to reach a lasting cease-fire. He also emphasized the necessity of releasing all hostages and detainees.
Addressing another regional issue, Abdulati criticized Ethiopia for taking unilateral steps regarding the filling and operation of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), a long-standing dispute between Cairo and Addis Ababa. “We are ready to resort to international legal action, and we will not give up our rights.” he warned.(ILKHA)
