Gaza death toll rises to 74,469 as Israeli attacks continue despite ceasefire
The death toll from Israel’s genocidal war on the Gaza Strip has risen to 74,469 Palestinians since October 7, 2023, as the besieged enclave continues to grapple with the devastating human cost of Israel’s military campaign, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry on Saturday.
The ministry said the number of Palestinians wounded in the war had climbed to 175,492, with hospitals receiving the bodies of six Palestinians and 43 wounded people over the past 24 hours.
Despite the ceasefire agreement that took effect on October 10, 2025, Palestinians in Gaza continue to suffer casualties amid ongoing Israeli attacks, underscoring the fragility of the truce and the continuing humanitarian crisis across the devastated territory.
According to the ministry, at least 1,511 Palestinians have been killed and another 5,375 wounded since the ceasefire came into effect.
The mounting death toll reflects the immense suffering inflicted on Gaza’s civilian population after more than two years of war, which has devastated homes and vital infrastructure and left large numbers of Palestinians struggling to survive amid widespread destruction and humanitarian hardship.
With thousands killed or injured even after the ceasefire took effect, calls for the protection of Palestinian civilians, accountability for violations and an end to the suffering in Gaza remain urgent. (ILKHA)
