Hamas accuses Board of Peace, Mladenov of justifying continued war in Gaza
Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem accused the Board of Peace and its High Representative for Gaza, Nickolay Mladenov, of moving from failing to stop Israel's ceasefire violations to actively providing justification for the continuation of the war in the Gaza Strip.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Qassem said the board and its envoy had failed to fulfil their responsibilities under the Gaza ceasefire framework and instead had sought to justify the occupation regime's ongoing military operations.
"The blood of Gaza's children and students is on the hands of Mladenov and his board," Qassem said, holding them politically responsible for the continued suffering of Palestinians in the enclave.
Hamas criticises handling of ceasefire
Qassem said the Board of Peace had failed to compel the occupation regime to honour its commitments under the ceasefire agreement, arguing that repeated violations had continued without meaningful international action.
He also accused Mladenov of making statements that provide political cover for the continuation of Israeli military operations instead of pressing the occupation regime to halt its attacks and implement the ceasefire.
The remarks came amid growing tensions between Hamas and the Board of Peace over the implementation of the Gaza roadmap and repeated allegations that Israel has failed to comply with the terms of the ceasefire agreement.
Israeli attacks continue despite ceasefire
Despite the ceasefire agreement that entered into force on 10 October 2025, the occupation regime has continued military operations across the Gaza Strip.
Israeli forces have carried out airstrikes in several areas of Gaza, opened fire on tents sheltering displaced Palestinians and continued demolishing buildings using explosives, according to Palestinian officials.
According to the latest figures released by Gaza's Health Ministry, 74,494 Palestinians have been killed and 175,604 injured since the occupation regime launched its military campaign in the Gaza Strip on 7 October 2023.
The ministry also said rescue teams continue to face major difficulties recovering bodies from beneath the rubble because of the scale of destruction and the lack of equipment, warning that many victims remain trapped under collapsed buildings.(ILKHA)
