Hamas rejects Israeli report alleging threat to repeat October 7 operation
The Hamas Movement has rejected an Israeli media report alleging that its leadership threatened to carry out an attack similar to the Oct. 7, 2023, operation, describing the claim as false and reaffirming its commitment to the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.
Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem on Thursday dismissed a report published by Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth, which claimed that the movement had conveyed such a threat through a United Nations official.
Qassem categorically denied that any threat had been communicated through a UN official, rejecting the report as “untrue.”
The spokesman stressed that Hamas remains committed to the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, where Palestinians continue to face the consequences of Israel’s military campaign and ongoing violations of the truce, according to the movement.
Qassem called on mediators to take immediate action to halt Israeli violations against Palestinians in the besieged enclave and ensure that the ceasefire agreement is fully implemented.
He emphasized the need for international mediators to uphold their responsibilities and ensure that commitments under the agreement are respected.
The statement comes amid continued tensions over the implementation of the Gaza ceasefire, with Hamas urging mediators to intervene to protect Palestinians and prevent further violations. (ILKHA)
