Hamas responds to Israeli claims over Shiri Bibas’s body

Hamas has expressed surprise at the uproar from Israeli authorities following claims that the body of the Israeli captive Shiri Bibas does not match DNA test results.
The group firmly rejected Israeli Premier Benjamin Netanyahu’s threats, dismissing them as part of his attempts to improve his image within the Zionist society amid internal Israeli disputes.
In a statement released on Friday, Hamas emphasized the importance of adhering to the terms of the ceasefire agreement and pledged to conduct its own investigations, with the intention of transparently revealing the findings. Hamas suggested that there could have been an error or mix-up in the bodies due to the Israeli army's targeting and bombing of the location where the family and other Palestinians were present.
Hamas assured that the results of their investigation would be communicated to mediators. If the Israeli forensic results were found to be accurate, Hamas would request the return of the body brought to Israel, which the occupation claims belongs to a Palestinian woman.
The Israeli occupation army confirmed early Friday that the bodies released on Thursday were those of Ariel and Kfir Bibas. However, they stated that the third body was not that of Shiri Bibas, and no match was found for any other hostage.
Meanwhile, Abu Obeida, the spokesman for the Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, announced the names of the six Israeli prisoners who are set to be released on Saturday. The names are as follows: Eliya Cohen, Omer Shem Tov, Omer Wenkert, Tal Shoham, Avera Mengisto, and Hisham al-Sayed. This marks the seventh batch of Israeli captives to be delivered, following the release of 19 Israeli captives in six previous batches, along with the bodies of four Israelis handed over on Thursday.
As part of the agreement, Israel is scheduled to release over 600 Palestinian prisoners in exchange for the release of the six Israeli captives. The ongoing ceasefire deal aims to bring an end to the hostilities that have resulted in significant loss of life and destruction in Gaza. (ILKHA)
