Iran, Saudi Arabia foreign ministers hold phone call on bilateral ties and regional crises
The foreign ministers of Iran and Saudi Arabia held a telephone conversation on Sunday, exchanging views on the state of bilateral relations as well as key regional and international developments, according to an official statement released by Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, discussed the progress of Iran–Saudi relations and underscored the importance of maintaining dialogue and diplomatic engagement between the two regional powers. Both sides emphasized that continued communication is essential for strengthening ties and addressing shared challenges in the region.
During the call, Araghchi addressed developments in southern Yemen, stressing the need to preserve Yemen’s unity and territorial integrity. He underlined the importance of implementing the agreed political roadmap as a means of preventing further instability and humanitarian suffering.
The Iranian foreign minister also strongly condemned Israel’s ongoing aggression against Lebanon, highlighting the responsibility of the international community—particularly the parties guaranteeing the ceasefire—to ensure an end to violations and to protect the Lebanese population from further harm.
Prince Faisal bin Farhan, for his part, emphasized the necessity of continued consultation and cooperation among regional countries to safeguard peace and stability. He also stressed the importance of holding the Israeli regime accountable for its actions, reflecting shared concerns over escalating tensions in the region.
The phone call came amid heightened diplomatic activity by Tehran. Earlier on Sunday, Araghchi held separate conversations with the foreign ministers of Qatar and Yemen, focusing on regional developments and coordination efforts.
The exchange between Tehran and Riyadh signals ongoing efforts by both countries to sustain diplomatic engagement and contribute to regional stability following the restoration of ties, as the Middle East continues to face multiple political and security challenges. (ILKHA)
