Iran warns US against interference in Strait of Hormuz, vows decisive military response
Iran has reaffirmed that it will not allow the United States to interfere in the management of the strategic Strait of Hormuz, warning that any unauthorized military activity in the vital waterway will be met with a firm response from the country's Armed Forces.
Speaking on behalf of the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, Second Brigadier General Abolfazl Zolfaghari declared that Iran remains fully committed to safeguarding its national sovereignty and maintaining security in the Strait of Hormuz.
"As previously warned, we will not, under any circumstances, allow the United States to interfere in the management of the Strait of Hormuz," Zolfaghari said.
The senior military official stressed that Iran's Armed Forces are prepared to respond decisively to any attempt by what he described as the "invading US military" to disrupt commercial shipping or oil tanker traffic outside Iran's designated navigation routes and without authorization from Iranian authorities.
He said the recent operations carried out by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran demonstrate Tehran's determination and capability to enforce security measures in the strategically important maritime corridor.
According to Zolfaghari, Iran's military actions have underscored the country's resolve to defend its territorial waters and ensure that maritime activity complies with regulations established by the Islamic Republic.
Zolfaghari also issued a warning to regional governments, stating that any cooperation with the United States or logistical assistance provided to American military forces would be viewed as participation in hostile actions against Iran.
He said countries facilitating US military operations risk becoming directly involved in any future confrontation.
The spokesman cautioned that should the conflict continue to expand, its consequences would affect the entire region.
The Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters spokesman placed responsibility for the current escalation on Washington and governments supporting the American military presence in the region.
He argued that continued US military intervention has contributed to growing instability and heightened security risks across the Persian Gulf.
Iranian officials have repeatedly maintained that the security of the Strait of Hormuz should remain under the responsibility of regional countries and have opposed what they describe as foreign military interference in one of the world's most important energy transit routes.
The latest remarks come amid heightened regional tensions, with Tehran reiterating that it will continue to defend its sovereignty, protect strategic waterways, and respond decisively to any actions it considers a threat to Iran's national security. (ILKHA)
