Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced early Wednesday that it had launched a ballistic missile attack on a US military command center and air base in Jordan, describing the strike as retaliation for American aggression against the Islamic Republic.

"In response to the aggressive actions of the child-killing US army, the brave warriors of the IRGC Aerospace Force targeted the US army command center and air base in Jordan with several ballistic missiles," the the IRGC Aerospace Force said in a statement.

The IRGC warned that military operations would continue as long as it perceived threats against Iran and what it described as illegal actions by US forces targeting Iranian interests.

"As long as the threats against the Islamic Republic of Iran continue and the illegal and evil actions of the US forces against Iran's interests are ongoing, the resistance will continue," the statement said, adding that Washington must end what it called its threats and unlawful interference.

The missile strike comes amid heightened tensions between Tehran and Washington following months of military escalation across the region.

Iranian officials accuse the United States of repeatedly violating Iranian sovereignty since April 7, when US President Donald Trump announced a unilateral ceasefire following a period of intensified US-Israeli military operations against Iran.

According to Iranian officials, the alleged violations continued despite the signing of a Pakistan-mediated memorandum of understanding between Tehran and Washington last month. Iranian authorities said the agreement's first provision required an immediate halt to military aggression by both sides.

Tehran also said it had established a designated maritime corridor through the Strait of Hormuz to facilitate what it described as safe and lawful international navigation under the terms of the agreement.

Iran, however, accused the United States of attempting to bypass the designated route by escorting commercial vessels through what it called an unauthorized maritime passage.

Iranian officials said the country's Armed Forces have responded militarily to each alleged violation, including incidents involving US naval activities in and around the Strait of Hormuz.

There was no immediate confirmation from US officials regarding the reported missile strike or any damage or casualties at the military installation in Jordan. The incident marks another significant escalation in the already volatile confrontation between Iran and the United States, raising concerns about the potential for a broader regional conflict.
