Iranian president praises Pakistan’s key role in Iran-US talks
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian met with Pakistan’s Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi in Tehran on Saturday, praising Islamabad’s constructive contributions to recent diplomatic efforts and reaffirming Iran’s commitment to deepening comprehensive bilateral cooperation with its neighbor.
During the meeting, President Pezeshkian expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s “brotherly, responsible, and committed” approach in supporting diplomatic initiatives that helped secure a ceasefire agreement and bring an end to recent hostilities. He highlighted Pakistan’s meaningful role in facilitating dialogue and consolidating the outcomes of negotiations between Iran and the United States, describing the country as a key regional partner in promoting stability.
The Iranian president emphasized Tehran’s strong political will to expand relations with Pakistan across all areas of mutual interest. He called for leveraging the significant untapped potential between the two nations, particularly in economic, trade, investment, and infrastructure sectors.“Expanding bilateral ties is a strategic priority that can contribute to regional stability and shared prosperity,” Pezeshkian stated.
As a concrete step forward, both sides agreed to dispatch a high-level Iranian delegation to Pakistan. The delegation, to be led by Iran’s Interior Minister, will include senior officials from key economic portfolios such as agriculture, industry, mining, trade, economic affairs, and finance. The mission aims to review and advance frameworks for enhanced cooperation in trade, investment, and joint development projects.
Pakistan’s Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi welcomed the ceasefire agreement and the resolution of recent tensions. He extended gratitude to Iranian leaders, including President Pezeshkian, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, and Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni, for their diplomatic efforts in managing the crisis.
Naqvi also praised the strategic leadership of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei, noting its instrumental role in supporting diplomatic initiatives and resolving tensions.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s strategic outlook, the interior minister declared Islamabad’s determination to significantly expand cooperation with Iran, with a particular focus on economic and commercial sectors. He announced that Pakistan’s new ambassador to Tehran will take office with a clear mandate to strengthen bilateral economic and strategic relations.
