Islamic Emirate and United Nations discuss support for returning refugees in Afghanistan
Deputy Foreign Minister Dr. Mohammad Naeem met with Andrika Ratwatte, Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs in Afghanistan, to discuss ongoing humanitarian cooperation and support for returning refugees.
During the meeting, Dr. Naeem reaffirmed the Islamic Emirate’s commitment to assisting all institutions working for the welfare of the Afghan people. He emphasized the importance of joint efforts between the United Nations and the Afghan government to meet the basic needs of refugees returning to the country, many of whom face difficult living conditions and limited access to essential services.
He called on the UN to take practical measures in coordination with the relevant Afghan authorities to ensure that humanitarian assistance reaches those most in need, particularly displaced families and vulnerable communities.
Mr. Ratwatte, for his part, expressed satisfaction with the improvements in overall security across Afghanistan and the continued expansion of service delivery to remote and rural areas. He reaffirmed the United Nations’ commitment to working with the Islamic Emirate to address humanitarian priorities and to support reintegration programs for returning refugees.
The meeting underscored the ongoing dialogue between the Islamic Emirate and the United Nations regarding humanitarian assistance, development cooperation, and the reintegration of Afghan nationals returning from abroad. (ILKHA)
