Israeli forces fatally shoot Palestinian teen near Bethlehem

Israeli forces shot and killed 17-year-old Palestinian Yusuf Bakr Zaoul near the village of Husan, west of Bethlehem, late last night. The Israeli military subsequently took possession of his body.
Abdul Halim Jaafra, director of ambulance and emergency services at the Palestinian Red Crescent in Bethlehem, reported that his team received alerts about casualties near Husan but were obstructed by Israeli forces from reaching the scene. The military compelled the Red Crescent crew to vacate the area, preventing them from providing medical assistance or obtaining precise information about the incident.
This event occurs amid escalating tensions in the region. The Palestinian Ministry of Health has documented an increase in fatalities and injuries resulting from recent confrontations. Human rights organizations have expressed concern over the use of live ammunition by Israeli forces and the obstruction of medical personnel from accessing the wounded.
Israeli authorities have not yet issued a statement regarding the circumstances surrounding Zaoul's death. The incident has drawn international attention, with calls for an impartial investigation to determine the facts and ensure accountability.
Local residents and family members of Zaoul are demanding the immediate return of his body for burial in accordance with cultural and religious customs. They have also called upon international organizations to intervene and address the ongoing violence in the occupied territories.
The situation remains tense, with community leaders urging restraint and advocating for dialogue to prevent further escalation. (ILKHA)
