Israeli forces kill young Palestinian during raid on Al-Fara’a refugee camp in West Bank
A 26-year-old Palestinian man was shot and killed by Israeli occupation forces on Saturday evening during a military raid on the Al-Fara’a refugee camp, south of Tubas, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
The ministry identified the victim as Abdel Rahman Darawsha, who succumbed to critical gunshot wounds sustained during the Israeli assault on the camp.
Witnesses said that large numbers of Israeli troops stormed the camp shortly after sunset, deploying infantry units and firing live ammunition at residents and homes. Darawsha was struck by bullets during the incursion and was immediately evacuated by a Palestinian Red Crescent ambulance to Tubas Governmental Hospital. Medical sources confirmed that he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival due to the severity of his injuries.
Local sources reported that the Israeli forces surrounded several areas of the camp, conducted house-to-house searches, and detained a number of young men. Armed clashes were also reported between Palestinian resistance fighters and Israeli troops during the raid.
Residents described the situation as tense, with electricity cut off in parts of the camp and dozens of families trapped inside their homes amid ongoing military activity.
The Ministry of Health condemned the killing, saying it adds to the rising toll of Palestinians killed in the occupied West Bank since the start of the year. According to Palestinian figures, more than 520 Palestinians, including women and children, have been killed by Israeli forces and settlers across the West Bank and Jerusalem since October 2023.
The latest killing underscores the continued escalation of Israeli military operations across the occupied territories, particularly in refugee camps in Tubas, Jenin, and Tulkarm, which have seen repeated assaults, arrests, and destruction of infrastructure in recent weeks.
Funeral arrangements for Darawsha are expected to take place in Tubas on Sunday, with calls for mass participation in protest against the ongoing Israeli aggression. (ILKHA)
