Israeli occupation authorities order seizure of Palestinian land near Jenin settlement
Israeli occupation authorities have issued a military order to seize 8.645 dunums of Palestinian land in the village of Deir Abu Da’if, east of Jenin, under the pretext of using the property for military purposes, in another move targeting Palestinian-owned land in the occupied West Bank.
Tariq Ighbaria, the official responsible for the settlements file at the Jenin Governorate, told the WAFA news agency that the targeted land is located near the Ganim settlement, where Israeli settlers re-established an outpost several months ago.
He said the latest order was part of a broader campaign of land seizures targeting Palestinian property around settlements and outposts across the governorate.
According to Ighbaria, Israeli occupation authorities routinely invoke military and security justifications to take control of Palestinian land, preventing its owners from accessing or using their property. Such measures, he said, help impose new realities on the ground, restrict the growth of Palestinian communities and facilitate settlement expansion.
The seizure order comes amid an escalation of Israeli measures across Jenin Governorate, including military land confiscation orders, the construction of settlement roads, the bulldozing of agricultural land and the uprooting of trees.
These measures are increasingly isolating Palestinian villages and towns from their surrounding agricultural areas, threatening local livelihoods and restricting both agricultural activity and the expansion of Palestinian communities.
The latest move adds to mounting concerns over the loss of Palestinian land in the occupied West Bank, where settlement expansion and land seizures continue to undermine the rights of local residents. (ILKHA)
