Israeli occupation forces target water sources in Hebron
Israeli occupation forces have launched a new attack on Palestinian livelihoods by targeting vital water sources in the town of Beit Ummar, north of Hebron, local sources reported.
On Monday, occupation forces reportedly filled in two water wells and demolished an agricultural water reservoir, dealing a severe blow to farming activities and the economic survival of Palestinian families in the area.
According to local activists, Israeli forces, accompanied by military vehicles, raided the Wadi al-Wahadin area near the illegal Karmi Tzur settlement, which is built on confiscated Beit Ummar lands. During the raid, a water well belonging to Palestinian farmer Jamil Alqam was filled in, while an agricultural water pool owned by Salameh Arar was completely destroyed.
In a separate incident near the town’s main entrance in the Wadi al-Sheikh area, occupation forces also filled in another water well owned by Hassan Abdulrahman Allami, rendering it unusable.
Palestinian officials and activists stressed that the systematic targeting of water wells and agricultural infrastructure is part of a deliberate policy aimed at forcing Palestinians off their land, crippling agricultural production, and expanding illegal settlements.
Experts warn that such attacks are increasingly concentrated around settlement areas and constitute a form of “silent annexation,” carried out through the destruction of essential resources rather than overt military confrontation.
The continued targeting of water—one of the most basic necessities of life—has been widely condemned as a violation of international law and a direct assault on Palestinian civilian resilience. (ILKHA)
