Israeli settlers launch new attack on Deir Sharaf, destroying Palestinian plant nursery
Israeli settlers carried out a fresh attack early Friday morning in the village of Deir Sharaf, west of Nablus, vandalizing a Palestinian-owned plant nursery and causing extensive damage, according to local sources.
The assault marks the latest incident in an escalating wave of settler violence systematically targeting Palestinian livelihoods across the occupied West Bank.
Residents reported that a group of settlers raided the nursery owned by Nasser Nasser, smashing equipment and destroying large quantities of cultivated plants. The nursery, a vital source of income for the family, was left in ruins after the attack.
Friday’s assault came just two days after settlers targeted a privately-owned commercial shop in the same village, vandalizing its contents and destroying its front facade. Locals say these repeated attacks are part of a deliberate strategy to terrorize Palestinians and pressure them to abandon their lands.
According to the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, Israeli settlers carried out 766 attacks in October alone, with the highest concentration recorded in the governorates of Nablus, Ramallah and Al-Bireh, and Hebron. These attacks included arson, property destruction, assaults on farmers, and the uprooting of olive trees—acts Palestinians view as an extension of the broader occupation policy aimed at expanding illegal settlements.
Palestinian officials and human rights groups warn that settler violence has sharply intensified under the protection of Israeli forces, who frequently fail to intervene or, in many cases, accompany settlers during their raids. The repeated assaults on homes, farms, and businesses in Deir Sharaf have left residents living in constant fear.
Local leaders stressed that these attacks will not deter Palestinian families from remaining on their land. They called for urgent international intervention to halt what they describe as state-backed settler terrorism, demanding accountability and protection for vulnerable communities facing daily harassment.
The destruction of the nursery in Deir Sharaf stands as yet another reminder of the ongoing campaign of intimidation that Palestinian villages endure, as settlers continue to expand their presence across the occupied West Bank with impunity. (ILKHA)
