European Orphan Hand Delivers winter clothing to vulnerable children in Diyarbakır
As winter approaches, the international humanitarian organization European Orphan Hand (Avrupa Yetim Eli) has intensified its support for orphans and children from underprivileged families through its "Winter Clothing Project."
In Diyarbakır, the initiative has delivered essential winter garments to hundreds of vulnerable children, ensuring they are shielded from the harsh cold.
European Orphan Hand, known for its global humanitarian initiatives, continues year-round assistance to orphans, widows, and families in need through food distribution, clothing support, financial aid, and various social projects. With falling temperatures and harsh weather conditions on the horizon, the organization launched its annual winter campaign to ensure vulnerable children are protected during the cold months.
As part of its Türkiye-wide operations, teams from the organization conducted fieldwork in Diyarbakır, visiting households one by one to identify orphans, and families facing financial hardship. The selected children were then brought—with their families—to a local clothing store, where they were given the opportunity to choose their own winter essentials. Coats, boots, sweaters, trousers, and other items were selected freely according to each child’s needs and preferences.
Speaking about the initiative, Abdullah Akçakaya, the Diyarbakır representative of European Orphan Hand, emphasized that the project was made possible through the generosity of donors.
“As European Orphan Hand, we continue to stand by our orphaned and needy children this winter as well,” Akçakaya said. “Thanks to the great sacrifices of our benefactors, we are carefully meeting the winter clothing needs of our children. Our teams are on the ground, delivering every item—from coats to boots— with special care.”
Akçakaya praised donors as the driving force behind the initiative. “The true architects of this work are our charitable supporters who open their hearts and means to orphans. Their contributions protect hundreds of our children from the cold and allow them to face winter with comfort and safety. Every donation brings warmth and hope to a child’s heart. We thank all our supporters and take great pride in sharing this goodness together.”
The Winter Clothing Project is part of broader aid activities underway in multiple cities across Türkiye, reflecting European Orphan Hand's commitment to protecting the most vulnerable during the challenging winter months. (ILKHA)
