A wave of Israeli air strikes and artillery attacks across Lebanon killed at least 15 people, including paramedics and a Lebanese soldier, and wounded 13 others on Tuesday, according to local reports.
The deadly assaults took place despite an existing ceasefire declared on 17 April, further escalating tensions and drawing renewed concern over repeated violations targeting civilians and rescue teams.
According to the report, Israeli warplanes launched 59 attacks across several regions of southern Lebanon, including intensive air raids and artillery shelling in residential and civilian areas.
The district of Tyre witnessed some of the heaviest bombardment, with at least 23 air strikes reported in areas including Al-Mansouri, Srifa, Arzoun, Al-Bazouriyah, and surrounding towns.
One Israeli strike in Tayr Debba reportedly killed a Syrian civilian and injured his wife, while another attack in Al-Mansouri wounded several residents.
In the Nabatieh district, Israeli aircraft reportedly carried out 12 additional raids targeting populated areas including Jebchit and Deir al-Zahrani.
A strike in Jebchit killed three people, among them a soldier from the Lebanese army, while another attack on a residential house in Deir al-Zahrani claimed the lives of two civilians.
One of the deadliest incidents occurred when Israeli forces allegedly targeted a civil defence rescue team responding to an earlier attack in Nabatieh. The strike killed two paramedics along with the wounded civilian they were attempting to save and injured a female paramedic.
The targeting of emergency responders has sparked outrage among local communities and humanitarian observers, who say such attacks further deepen the suffering of civilians already living under constant threat of bombardment.
The attacks have intensified concerns over the continued instability along the Lebanese border despite the ceasefire announced in April.
Residents in southern Lebanon reported scenes of destruction, panic, and displacement as air strikes hit residential neighborhoods and civilian infrastructure.
Lebanese officials and local observers have repeatedly accused Israel of violating ceasefire agreements through continued military operations and aerial attacks targeting villages and populated areas.
The latest escalation is expected to increase diplomatic pressure for international intervention to halt attacks on civilians and prevent a broader regional confrontation. (ILKHA)
